If you are holding a pet expo, school fete or public show, please consider inviting us along. We provide an educational introduction to the benefits of rescuing small animals by bringing along a few special rescue pets to interact with the public, as well as informational flyers and a lot of knowledge to answer questions!

Rabbit Fanciers Pet Expo :: Sunday, 13th September 2009

On Sunday, 13th September 2009, we held an information stall at the Rabbit Fancier’s Pet Expo, held at the Castle Hill Showground. It was a great day, where we got to say hello to many people who have previously adopted pets from us, and also meet some new faces.

We had pamphlets, fliers and an adoption list available to be picked up. It was lovely to see so many people taking them, and traffic to our website greatly increased over the following days. Being right next to the entrance, we were lucky enough to greet most people who came, although at times it became so busy with all our volunteers talking to the public about rescue.

Some of the animals we brought to represent the rescue were: Danny, who hopped around in an exercise pen meeting and greeting everyone who stopped to give him a pat; Aristotle and Plato: two guinea pigs available for adoption; Algernon: a mouse mascot who entertained many children by sitting on their hands cleaning himself; and Syd: our ferret mascot who at times stole the show with his funny antics -until late in the afternoon when he ran out of energy and looked like he was under sedation! One of the things we most enjoyed was seeing how happy Danny was. He truly deserves a very special home, there are not many bunnies that would have coped so well with all the fuss of a show, and he just lapped up every moment of it!

A beautiful vegetable display was provided by Samantha, a dedicated volunteer who made our stall the success it was! A big thankyou goes out to her. She spent so much time getting everything ready and making the long trip out to spend the day with us.

Finally, thanks go to Irene King and the Rabbit Fanciers Society who invited us and provided signs!
